Preserving the Past


The Deerfield Beach Historical Society was established in 1973 by volunteers dedicated to preserving Deerfield's history for future generations. They collected and preserved vintage photographs and picture postcards, the area's earliest newspapers and magazines, original letters and diaries, and early maps, surveys, and government documents. Today the Society is working hard to preserve three of Deerfield's historic sites: Old Deerfield School (circa 1920), Historic Butler House (circa 1923), and the Kester Cottage (circa 1930).
 

 

Telling the Story

Educational programs and tours of the Deerfield Beach Historical Society's three historic sites are available for schools and youth and community organizations. Additionally, the Society hosts an annual lecture series and many special events, including the annual Harvest Supper, Santa Breakfast, and Old Fashioned Ice Cream Social. Our Annual Dinner and Auction was a GREAT Success!

We held our annual dinner and auction at the Deerfield Train Station where, Mr. FEC entertained us with the story of how Mr. Henry Flagler brought the railroad South!  Seth Bramson is known as Mr. FEC, he is the company historian, professor and all 'round great story teller.  We had a record turn-out and gained three new members in the process.  Howard's Market catered the event and all agreed, it was absolutely delicious.
